With the Decision of the Personal Data Protection Board dated 19.07.2018 and numbered 2018/87, the amount of “total annual financial balance sheet”, which was accepted as a criterion for exemption from the obligation to register with the Data Controllers Registry (VERBIS), has been re-evaluated by considering the economic conditions in Turkey.
With the Board Decision dated 06.07.2023 and numbered 2023/1154, the total annual financial balance sheet amount stated under “real or legal person data controllers with less than 50 employees and a total annual financial balance sheet of less than 25 million Turkish Liras whose main activity is not processing special categories of personal data” in the Board decision dated 19.07.2018 and numbered 2018/87has been revised and updated as “real or legal person data controllers with less than 50 employees and a total annual financial balance sheet of less than 100 million Turkish Liras whose main activity is not processing special categories of personal data“.
Accordingly, real or legal person data controllers whose main field of activity is not special categories of personal data processing and whose annual number of employees is less than 50 and annual financial balance sheet total is less than 100 million Turkish Liras are exempt from the obligation to register with the Data Controllers Registry (VERBIS).
